No more hiding below the fenceline for Gild Chicago.

Crews were pouring concrete on the second floor Thursday for the 12-story tower. If you were stuck in traffic in the Gold Coast neighborhood for 45 seconds, this is the reason. Those see-ment mixers don’t have a whole lot of maneuvering room at State and Division, but kudos to the Power Construction guys for keeping cars and pedestrians moving thru with minimal delays. A well-oiled machine, they are.

Parking facility starts going vertical at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield

Power Construction is busy putting up a four-story, 340,000-square-foot parking structure at Northwestern Medicine Central Dupage Hospital in Winfield. Gresham Smith is the design architect.

The Daily Herald Business Ledger and the Daily Herald wrote in part about what got us here back in September.

Construction is best observed from the parking structure across the road.

1400 West Randolph brings the pane

The first row of curtain wall is being installed at 1400 West Randolph in the West Loop. Meanwhile, overall construction looks to have reached the 15th or 16th level. Have a look at at Power Construction’s handiwork:

Let’s walk across Ogden Avenue from 1454 West Randolph, which we saw last week, for a look at how work is progressing at 1400 West Randolph.

Same team involved on this one as well, but on a larger building: 26 stories and 278 units. Developed by Marquette Companies, designed by Brininstool + Lynch, and built by Power Construction.

Progress Update: 1454 West Randolph

Checking in on the farther-west of two developments from Marquette Companies.

1454 West Randolph is also the shorter of the two projects (1400 West Randolph is the other), bringing 11 stories and 242 units to the triangular lot bounded by Randolph Street, Ogden Avenue, and Lake Street. Designed by Brininstool + Lynch; built by Power Construction.

One Chicago is down to One Tower Crane

Crews were able to remove one section of Tower Crane C at One Chicago Thursday.

Where there were three, there now is just one.

One Chicago once blessed the city with three tower cranes, but progress means we have to say goodbye to them one-by-one, and Tower Crane C has done all it can do to top out the west tower. So down it comes.

Congrats on the milestone to everyone involved: General Contractor Power Construction; Developer JDL Development; and Design Architects Goettsch Partners and Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture. Not to mention those of you who’ll someday live in one of these shiny new beauties.

Gild starts to peek above fence level

Progress is beginning to show above the fence line at Gild in the Gold Coast neighborhood. There might not be much to see yet, but thanks to the power of a tower crane, soon there’ll be 12 stories to peruse, and rent, if you’d like.
